This is one of the first project files I created when I became a Virtual Quilter, and it is still a favourite.

I have modified a few of the blocks but there are no modified blocks in today’s designs.

In this project file, the blocks are from the Electric Quilt library, but I have mixed up pieces from some of the blocks, and altered the layouts of most of the blocks in some way, and have continued to use the blocks in their original form.

The other difference between this and the EQ Dozen projects is that this one started with a baker’s dozen … 13 blocks as opposed to 12 blocks!

I started this project file with a Baker’s Dozen of Electric Quilt blocks nearly 7 years ago. It has been my favourite series of designs ever since.
For those unfamiliar with the term, a Baker’s Dozen is a regular dozen plus one, though I nearly called it a Butcher’s Dozen after I added another extra block. I also modified some of the blocks a bit too.

I love the way the floral cross blocks link up forming a crooked border between the centre and corner areas of the second design today. Must try that in some other ...

I have always liked applique quilts with two block designs alternated, and in particular I like mixing diagonal and straight cross designs.

I also like mixing pieced and applique blocks to make a quilt, as all applique blocks are usually way more time consuming than pieced, so mixing them up can save a lot of time.

Baker’s Dozen is one of my favourite project files. I was delighted with the contrast in the fabrics when I started playing, and still love the contrast. I love the green and gold colours but finding the right background took a while. I was thinking that I would use brown but it didn’t quite achieve what I was hoping for … but black did!

I like them both … the whole project file is full of favourites.

I think I can call this one impressive … it would attract my attention in any quilt exhibition.

I think it is the colour combination which stands out for me.

Love it!

It would be interesting to see some of my virtual quilt designs as part of the tiled floor of a very large hallway, or perhaps made up as a floor mat … or carpet tiles.

Very interesting, and rather likable!

Another interesting design. This project file has lots of interesting designs waiting for their day on the blog, and I like all of them.

Not my favourite mix of colours by a long way, but I love this project file, and all the designs in it.

I think my favourite of these two designs is the first one, but i may change my mind.

One of my favourite project files, and probably my most modern colour combination, but still grounded by tradition influences.

I love the second design!

Very interesting, and I like it!

Love the centre part, and find the outer blocks form an interesting texture, though not sure that I like it.

Not the colours I would choose to live with, but I love the combination and the way they work together.

I am not even going to try to choose a favourite from these two.
As I have already said, not colours I would want to live with, but if I saw these designs in these colours in an exhibition I would stop and admire for quite sometime, and they would get my Viewers Choice vote.

Love the difference in scale of the blocks in the first design.

Love the second design too.
In fact, I love the whole project file, and add more designs every time I open it.

Overall a rather simple design, though a lot of the blocks would be fiddly to do, and I like it a lot.

I may like the first one a lot, but the second design is definitely my favourite.

Select a variety of blocks from the Electric Quilt Library, add some fabrics of your choice and use a basic straight setting and start playing.

You just might find your next masterpiece quilt.

Interesting design from one of my favourite project files.
After I selected two designs for today I added three more, and will have another play time after I schedule this post for you, so there is no likelihood of running out of designs to share.

Like the second one too, though I think I would prefer the wide border to be black.

Something like this would look stunning in the right setting.

The second one is not as stunning, but would still look good.
